Jane Austen 250th birthday celebrations

Immerse yourself in one of the many special Literary events happening in Bath in 2025

This year, the historic city of Bath will light-up with unique events honouring Jane Austen’s legacy. If you’re looking to join the celebrations, see what’s on below.

No.1 Royal Crescent Exhibition

From July, No.1 Royal Crescent will host 'The Most Tiresome Place in the World': Jane Austen & Bath, an exhibition exploring Austen's complex relationship with the city that inspired her novels but also fuelled her cynicism and wit.

The Jane Austen Festival

This popular festival takes place annually in September, and includes the famous Grand Regency Costumed Parade. In 2025 the festival will expand to include a memorable Yuletide Birthday Ball on 13 December.

Illustrating Austen

From September to January 2026, the Holburne Museum will host an exhibition exploring the artwork behind Austen's most-loved tales.

Immersive Austen

Bath’s Natural Theatre Company will be performing their ‘Austen Lost and Found’ theatre show throughout the year using the city itself as a stage.
