Celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday in Bath

This year marks 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen, and Bath is celebrating in style. From exhibitions and costumed parades to immersive theatre and themed afternoon teas, the city will be alive with literary charm. No.1 Royal Crescent Exhibition

From July, No.1 Royal Crescent will present The Most Tiresome Place in the World: Jane Austen & Bath – an exhibition exploring the author’s complicated connection with the city that shaped her stories and inspired her wit.


The Jane Austen Festival

Taking place every September, this much-loved festival brings together Austen fans from around the world. Highlights include the famous Grand Regency Costumed Parade and, for the 250th anniversary, a new Yuletide Birthday Ball on 13 December.


Illustrating Austen

From September 2025 to January 2026, the Holburne Museum will host a beautifully curated exhibition showcasing illustrations that have brought Jane Austen’s stories to life across generations.


Immersive Austen

Throughout 2025, Bath’s Natural Theatre Company will stage ‘Austen: Lost and Found’, an outdoor theatrical experience where the streets of Bath become part of the performance.
