Awe-inspiring, mysterious stone circle, created between 3000 BC and 1600 BC. Four ton Welsh bluestones, encircled by 50 ton sarsen stones topped by massive, yet precisely engineered, lintels. Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are many other prehistoric monuments nearby.

avebury stone circle & silbury hill
Avebury is a pretty village set amongst Europe’s largest stone circle, dating from 2,500 BC. This UNESCO World Heritage Site includes nearby Silbury Hill and West Kennett Long Barrow. The Alexander Keiller Museum contains significant prehistoric archaeological collections and interactive displays.
Avebury Manor is a 16th century house of monastic origin with a charming Edwardian garden divided into colourful “rooms”.
