A homely country house hotel
Jane and Peter are the resident owners of Widbrook Grange and supported by award winning Head Chef Phil and Duty Managers Chris and Claire they run the hotel. Widbrook provides a range of accommodation, welcoming adults, families, corporate customers and pets into the personal and homely atmosphere of this typically English Country House.
Widbrook has an AA three star grading plus an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.
The hotel was built in the 1700's
The name Widbrook dates from 1279 and relates to the brook that runs through the hotel’s grounds. Widbrook Grange was originally built as a model farm during the early 1700’s and consisted then, as it does today, of a large and impressive main house with its comfortable lounges and log fires.
It sits in a courtyard and is surrounded by stables and barns which now house some of the hotel’s bedrooms and its indoor swimming pool. On both sides of the house, reflecting its agricultural heritage, are some fine examples of bee bowls and extensive lawns sweep down to the brook.
Eleven acres of grounds, perfectly located
We are just outside the historic town of Bradford on Avon, and are nestled in the peaceful Wiltshire countryside yet within easy access to Bath, Longleat, Trowbridge and even Stonehenge.
In our 11 acres of grounds and gardens we have deer walking through, doves flying around and nesting in our dovecote, rabbits, pheasant and squirrels happily feeding, our two black labs play with the chickens that roam freely, buzzards and sparrow hawks can be seen hunting. Badgers have sets in the grounds and we also have a family of foxes (not good news for the chickens).
We have bat and bird boxes and bees buzz around our hives safely located out of reach. Their honey can be bought in the hotel. There is plenty of space for children to play in safety without disturbing the adults and we have a nature trail throughout the grounds; 25 different varieties of birds have been spotted.
Countryside walks
There are countryside walks that start at the hotel and go across adjoining farmland to the picturesque Kennet and Avon canal and into medieval Bradford on Avon and beyond.
Foraging for natural ingredients
Our Head Chef, Phil, can often be spotted foraging in the hedgerows and fields for natural ingredients to use in his typical English country house dishes and the hotel frequently has well known personalities eating in its award winning restaurant.
